Rogers - katie

Source: New Ross Mail Friday, Oct 28, 1898

Another loved one has left this world with its sorrow, cares and woes far behind and has gone to the Land of Rest beyond the skies, where all shall be peace and love tho those who have obeyed the great King's command. Aunt Katie Rogers, who has been living with her son Thomas, south of New Ross about two miles for a number of years, died Sunday about 12 o'clock at the mature age of 88. Rev. W.T. Brooks of Ladoga conducted the servicces at the house Monday afternoon at one o'clock after which her remains were laid to rest forever in the Inloe (sic) cemetery. Aunt Katie came from Kentucky in her childhood and has lived here ever since. She was a kind old lady and was loved and respected by all who knew her. She seemed not to care for her own welfare, but for that of others. She leaves a son and daughter who greatly mourn their loss, 3 grandchildren who shall miss her tender care and a host of friends who shall greatly miss the aged one who has been a mother to us all. A precious mother from us has gone A voice we loved is stilled Her chair is vacant in that home Which never can be filled God, in his wisdome has recalled The boon his love had given Though her lo'd body moulder here Her soul is safe in heaven -
